A man from Nevada is appealing to the authorities with the hope that they will return some tigers which he relies on for emotional assistance.
Karl Mitchell from Pahrump was released on bond Wednesday evening and has returned home. He and his tigers have caused
headlines for decades
.
“I definitely intend to reclaim the tigers,” Mitchell stated.
Nye County authorities are
relocating Mitchell’s tigers,
Including individuals named Mustafa and Diva, he has transported them to a refuge located beyond the borders of Nevada. He mentioned these are his emotional support creatures, aiding him with his PTSD.
“I have worked with all sorts of animals for numerous years, and I discovered a special connection with tigers that set them apart from lions,” Mitchell stated when questioned about his choice of tigers as emotional support animals.
The authorities in Nye County took possession of the tigers since Mitchell lacks the necessary permits for their keeping.
Their probe into Mitchell gained momentum due to an ongoing eviction issue. The property owner, Roberta Wind, is the niece of the late former owner, referred to locally as Ray “Flagman” Mielzynski.
The wind mentioned that she had given Mitchell more than a year to vacate the property so she could sell the land and divide the proceeds among their siblings, but he declined to comply.
“Nobody was willing to take a chance because of his numerous tigers, dogs, and well, you know, I didn’t want anybody else to take the risk either,” Wind stated.
The wind mentioned that she was unaware of the tiger confiscation in Nye County scheduled for Wednesday. She also stated that the property disagreement and Mitchell’s tiger permits are distinct matters.
For Mitchell to retrieve the tigers, he must navigate several legal hurdles, such as transferring their ownership to an individual with the appropriate licenses in Pahrump.
