When ordering the console from various sellers, the process remains typical: availability is granted on a first-come, first-served basis for everyone. Several European retailers, such as those in the UK, have removed the option to pre-order due to selling out their initial inventory.
Those who wish to preorder the console directly from Nintendo must satisfy certain minimum criteria to qualify for purchase.
Once preordering for the console begins in the US, individuals who wish to place their orders via Nintendo must ensure they have maintained an active Nintendo Switch Online membership for at least 12 months and accumulated a minimum of 50 hours of playtime by April 2nd.
Should you qualify, an invitation email will be dispatched to your linked account once pre-orders commence and remains active for 72 hours thereafter. Please note these invites cannot be transferred.
Once these have been distributed to all qualifying registrants, the remaining eligible participants will receive their invitations on a first-come, first-served basis.
In Europe (including the UK), players must have maintained an uninterrupted Nintendo Switch Online subscription for a minimum of two years by March 31st. Priority will be given based on the total hours spent playing paidSwitch titles, with additional consideration for those who have subscribed to promotional newsletters fromNintendo.
Based on its sales performance, this requirement might be reduced, allowing additional individuals to pre-order the console.
It’s clear that Nintendo has implemented these criteria to prevent scalping, which involves individuals purchasing items with the intent to quickly resell them at a higher price since they are hard to obtain.
