Tip from Crime Stoppers Leads to Arrest in Knoxville Drive-By Shooting

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The Knoxville Police Department reported that they have apprehended a suspect in connection with an October drive-by shooting after receiving valuable information from East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers.

Michael Thomas, aged 18, was apprehended on Thursday at a residence on Lilac Avenue. He faced charges related to an alleged attempt at first-degree murder connected to this incident.
A shooting incident near Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue left a 41-year-old man injured.

A representative from KPD mentioned that the officers made the arrest based on information provided through Crime Stoppers.

He faced several charges including drug-related crimes and resisting arrest. According to police reports, Thomas tossed away a backpack as he tried to flee from law enforcement. The investigation allegedly uncovered more than 70 grams of cocaine, over six grams of crack cocaine, along with various drug accessories.
