The 8th Stockholm collection has never been better.
Whenever IKEA releases a new collection
We’re set to head out shopping. The situation remains unchanged this time around, despite this particular line being four decades old.
The eighth iteration of
the beloved STOCKHOLM collection
The launch on April 10 will introduce almost 100 new items to the market. Designed as a highlight reel for IKEA, this collection includes a range of products such as a chocolate velvet couch alongside sleek wooden dining chairs—all known for their user-friendly assembly process.
As Karin Gustavsson, the creative director behind STOCKHOLM 2025, explains: “This series draws inspiration from its namesake, integrating elements closely tied to natural surroundings and reflecting the juxtaposition between different landscapes characteristic of Stockholm.” She adds, “Stockholm seamlessly merges city living with close-by forests, archipelagos, and bodies of water; we’ve captured this harmony within our creations.”
Look forward to an abundance of wooden elements, nature-inspired patterns, and the resurgence of rattan, a popular choice from the 2017 version.
We aimed for this series to exude the ambiance of a space accumulated gradually over time, despite potentially purchasing everything simultaneously,” explains Nike Karlsson, one of the designers behind the line, in the press statement. “The focus was on achieving an authentic, well-used look.

This new lineup from IKEA includes innovative engineering as always. A standout piece in this collection is a pioneering chandelier that made it onto Gustavsson’s wish list, making it one of the most challenging items to develop. To ensure a flawless installation free of fingerprints, the chandelier also arrives with accompanying white gloves for easy assembly.
“I enlisted our designer Nike Karlsson to create it,” explains Gustavsson. “He worked through numerous versions, initially drafting a wooden chandelier, yet it transformed over time into the sleek, somewhat vintage-inspired, glass chandelier we see today.”
Yet another beloved item? An elegant bronzy candle holder designed to accommodate both a tapered candle on one end and a tea light on the opposite side.
“A simple yet elegant addition that brings a touch of beauty to any space,” Gustavsson remarks.
This version of STOCKHOLM includes 96 items, making it the largest collection to date.
Gustavsson explains that whereas past editions of the STOCKHOLM line emphasized matching analogous hues, textures, and shades, this particular range takes a distinct approach. It boasts an expanded array of materials featuring pairings that yield fresh and captivating designs.
Just as with numerous IKEA releases, many of these items are
intended to address everyday issues
